acclimate (verb) to get used/adjusted/adapt to a different climate from one's own.

A person from a hot climate moving to a cold climate will take some time to adjust themselves to the cold climate. That is, it takes some time for them to acclimate themselves to the changed climate.

  • Acclimating oneself to a new climate is just a matter of time, as technology helps in overcoming the difficulties caused by the change of climate.
  • Animals cannot survive a change of climate, as humans can, for the simple reason that animals do not have the benefit of technology and medicare that human beings enjoy, to acclimate themselves.
