adjacent (adj) next to, nearest to, adjoining (of buildings, rooms, areas, etc.).

If your home is next to the school or nearest to it, it is adjacent to the school. If the bus station is next to the airport, or just a few buildings away from it, the bus station is adjacent to the airport. Living in buildings adjacent to factories, people are exposed to pollution.

  • Their homes being adjacent to each other, they frequently see each other, though they don't talk to each other every time.
  • Our office buildings, being adjacent to a transport office, are often disturbed by the noise of the trucks.
