adjunct (noun) an addition to a more important thing; (grammar) a word or a phrase adding to the meaning of the verb in a sentence.

Already in possession of a car, if you buy a small car for your convenience, the small car is an adjunct. A portable TV, used in addition to a big TV, is an adjunct. "She walks fast." In this sentence, 'fast' is adjunct because it adds to the meaning of the verb, 'walks'.

  • Only the rich can afford adjuncts, especially if they happen to be very expensive.
  • Adjuncts make life very convenient, but they can also cause trouble if they are too many.
