Alacrity implies ready acceptance of something which you like very much, and move quickly to accept it. When you get an opportunity to do something, which you very much like to do, you jump at the opportunity. This is alacrity. When you do something with eagerness because doing it is advantageous to you, and because you like to do it, you do it with alacrity. A politician craving for publicity will pose for photographs with alacrity.
