alias (noun) a different name or a false name; used by actors and criminals known by more than one name.
Criminals, to avoid being caught by the police, or recognized by people, use different names to carry on their work under false identity. Alias is placed before such names. Eg; John Millington alias Pat Brookes alias Charles Shriver. Alias is used to indicate the two or more names a criminal or an actor has.
- Eric Arthur Blair, famous author of such great books as Animal Farm and Nineteen Eighty Four, wrote under the name of George Orwell. George Orwell alias Eric Arthur Blair wrote these novels.
