allegiance (noun) loyalty or sincere support to a ruler, a religion, a political party, etc..

A person's allegiance to a party is their loyalty to the party. A person's continued support of a ruler is their allegiance to the ruler. A man's allegiance to a religion is seen in his practice of the religion and his continued faith in it. Allegiance to a king implies a total acceptance of the king's rule.

  • In spite of his being denied the favor of a high position or an important role in the party affairs, his allegiance to the party is unaffected.
  • Guy Fawkes's allegiance to the Pope and the Catholics was so strong that he wanted to blow up King James I of England, and the British parliament.
