amiable (adj) (of a person) pleasant, likable, and friendly.

An amiable person is one who is very friendly, whose company is pleasant, and who makes you like them. One who is amiable is easy to deal with. An amiable person may also be one who is mild-tempered, and lacks firmness. To have an amiable wife is to have a very warm and likable wife, who makes her husband's life easy.
