We come across people wearing around their arms, wrists, and necks, pieces of jewelry which they believe have magic powers. Such a piece of jewelry is an amulet. Those who wear amulets believe that they have the power to protect the wearers from evil spirits, diseases, and also to bring luck.

  • Even in these days of high technology it is surprising to see people believing in the powers of amulets and charms, though they do not stand the test of science.
  • In spite of the cheap material of which the amulet was made, Beth paid a very high price for it because of the supposed charm she thinks it bears.
