apex (noun) summit; peak; the highest point.

The top point of something is its apex. When we talk of the apex of a triangle, we mean the highest tip or the upper vertex of a triangle with its base horizontal. Apex also means the highest point in a person's career or achievement. Apex is also the summit of a mountain.

  • Vincent's performance before a New York audience two summers ago was the apex of his career as a solo violinist. He has not been in such demand ever since.
