apologist (noun) a defender of a religious, political, or economic theory; a supporter of an institution.

An apologist is one who supports either in speech or in writing, a view point or a way of thinking, especially a political or religious belief. One who makes it their main activity to write or speak in defense of the theories, systems of belief, etc., which they think to be correct is an apologist.
