apprehensive (adj) worried; afraid that something bad might happen.

When you are afraid that some bad thing might happen, you are apprehensive of bad happenings. When you suspect that there might be some danger, you are apprehensive of danger. If you are apprehensive about an exam, you are agitated about it.

  • Henry is apprehensive about the outcome of the elections, as the exit polls are not as favorable to him as he has expected.
  • We were apprehensive whether things would turn out to our expectations, because the profits were slow in coming.
