aromatic (adj) fragrant; pleasant and sweet smelling (herbs, plants, seeds, cooking, etc.).

An aromatic substance is one which has a pleasant smell and is quite enjoyable. The aroma of coffee, or of tea, is the flavor of coffee or tea reaching us, and making us feel like having a sip. A number of herbs, leaves of medicinal use, are usually aromatic. Ginger, nutmeg, cardamom, and spices are aromatic. That is they have a very pleasant smell.

  • As John entered the green house, he was delighted at the aromatic smell of some of the plants, and he immediately decided to have some of them in his garden.
  • As Betsey boiled the coffee, the whole room was filled with its aroma and tempted John at work to have some of it.
