arroyo (noun) a stream (a small, narrow river) or a brook.

An arroyo (this word is used only in South-West America), is a small, narrow river or gully, which has water in it mainly because of rains. It may be also a channel, cut and fed chiefly by rain water.

  • The arroyo attracted the little children on picnic, because they could play in it safely.
  • The arroyo hasn't any water left in it in the absence of rains.
