asymmetric (adj) lacking symmetry; (of a thing divided into two parts along a central line) not being identical.

A thing is symmetrical if the two halves into which it is divided along a central line are the same shape and size. For example, the two halves of a circle are identical on division along a diameter. So the circle is symmetric about its diameter. If unlike in the case of a circle, the two parts of thing are not identical, the thing is asymmetric.

In fact human face is asymmetric, both the eyes are not identical, as, also both the ears. The right and the left arms, the right and the left legs of the same person are not always identical.
  • All land masses in the world are asymmetric. No country or continent can be divided into identical halves.
