auroral (adj) connected with aurora, the bands of very bright light seen near the poles.

Auroral is connected with aurora, an atmospheric phenomenon of bands of usually green, red, or yellow light moving across the sky in the polar regions. If it is in the south polar region, it is called the aurora australis, and if it is in the north polar region, it is called aurora borealis.
