authoritarian (adj) (of a rule) demanding total obedience to rules and laws even if they are unfair and unjust; (of a person) demanding respect and obedience.
A government or a rule is authoritarian if the people are expected to obey the rules and the laws of it, even if they are unfair, and makes people lose their personal freedom. A person is authoritarian if they expect to be obeyed by others. A school which imposes very strict discipline, giving little scope for its students for free activity is authoritarian.
