benign (adj) kindly, gentle, and harmless; (of tumors) not dangerous or fatal.

'Benign' implies being kindly, gentle, and harmless. It is applied to those who are always understanding, gentle, and are willing to help you. For example, when we talk of the benign looks of the Buddha, we refer to the kindly and gentle face of the Buddha, as seen in the pictures and statues of the Buddha.

  • The benign attitude of the bishop, who in true Christian spirit offered the second golden candle stand to the thief who had stolen the first candle holder, brought about a real change of heart of the thief.
