When you want to persuade people to do something, one of the methods you use is to talk to them nicely, and say good things about them. They are blandishments. Salesman use blandishments to persuade customers to buy what they sell. A seller of clothes talks about how the clothes suit the customers, etc., just to make them buy it. When we expect others to do us a favor, we shower praises on them. They are blandishments.
