bogus (adj) false; counterfeit.
Anything made in imitation of something else, with the intention of cheating people, is bogus. A person is bogus, if they try to cheat others, by trying to pass off as somebody else. A bogus doctor is not a doctor but claims to be a doctor to cheat others. A bogus insurance company collects premiums from clients and disappears with the money. A bogus insurance claim is a claim for insurance money for false injuries, false fire accidents, etc..
- Investigations by the police and by a medical team have proved that he is a bogus doctor. The wonder, however is, how he has been able to treat even the few patients he had, without knowledge of medicine.
