When a person waves something, usually a weapon like a gun or sword in the air, they brandish it. We see very often in movies, horse soldiers and knights of the olden days, waving their swords in the air. That is brandishing. When you have the copy of the judgment in your favor, you come out of the court waving the paper in the air triumphantly. That is, you brandish the paper.
