When you threaten someone into doing something by harsh words and severe looks, you browbeat them. To get someone to do something by asking them repeatedly to do it on threat of punishment is to browbeat them. She browbeat him into handing over the charge of the cash chest. That is, she threatened him with punishment if he did not hand over the charge to her.

  • He tried to browbeat her into agreeing to a divorce, but she would not agree to it.
