cadaver (noun) a dead human body.

Cadaver is just another word for a corpse, a human dead body. A place that has been under a heavy bomb attack has usually a number of cadavers lying around, that is, a number of human dead bodies scattered all over the area.

  • The sight of a single cadaver might be shocking to people in normal circumstances, but soldiers in the thick of a battle, who get used to such sights, experience no such shock. They are sad only for a moment and pass on.
  • As a large number of people had been killed in the earthquake that struck the area, the mortuaries in the hospital were filled with their cadavers.
