When someone in a carefully planned and intentional manner does harm to you, it is a calculated move to harm you. If a person with the intention of damaging the reputation of a great man, spreads bad talk about him in a planned manner, the bad talk so spread is calculated to harm the great man's reputation. A person might claim that the bad writings about them in the press are calculated to lower their image in the public.
