camouflage (verb) hide; conceal (by making things or persons indistinguishable from the surroundings).
Hide something or a person by making it, or them, look like their surroundings. A thing made to look like the other things around it cannot be easily noticed, and then it is camouflaged. A person camouflages themselves by assuming the color of their surroundings, and thus hide themselves. A person, who paints themselves and puts on clothes of the color of their surrounds so as to be unnoticeable, camouflages themselves. The usual practice during a war is for soldiers to camouflage themselves with paint, leaves, branches, and green nets to hide themselves.
- The convoy of trucks was well camouflaged with leaves, twigs, and branches to give the impression that they were waving branches.
- Her enquiry of our well-being was only to appear normal, and to camouflage her anger at our not being so polite to her.
