A place is capacious if it has a lot of space where a large number of people can sit or move about freely, or if there is enough room to put a large number of things there. Some of the theatres and playhouses in New York are very capacious. That is, these theatres have enough room for a large number of audiences. A car or a bus is capacious, if it can carry a good number of passengers.
