captious (adj) faultfinding; blaming others for unimportant things.
A person who often finds fault with others even for very small things is captious. Criticizing others even for silly things is captious. Some people are always on the look out for faults in others, even if the faults happen to be very minor. Such people are captious.
- The captious old man never allows others to be at peace. He criticizes them for very silly things, for the way they sip their coffee or sit in a chair.
- Being captious, he has none to give him company. He finds fault with trivial things the others do and offers no real criticism which might help them to improve.
