If a dead body is not properly disposed of, it decomposes and rots. It gives out a very foul smell and attracts scavenger birds and animals that eat the rotten flesh of an animal left uneaten by another animal.

  • According to a recent research, vultures are the only creatures that are not infected with any disease when they feed on carrion.
  • Carrion, that is, the decaying flesh of animals, is a very common sight in forests, and also in battle fields where a number of dead bodies lie around awaiting disposal.
  • Though the lion and the tiger belong to the family of cats, the lion eats a freshly killed animal, while the tiger feeds not only on fresh meat but also on days-old carrion, though the flesh smells foul and is infested with worms and insects.
