charisma (noun) a powerful personal quality of attracting others and impressing them.

Some people, we observe, are gifted with a powerful personal quality or charm that attracts others towards them. It creates an impression of greatness in others about them and makes others admire them, show loyalty to them, and follow them. Such a personal quality is charisma. Some of the political leaders, film stars, painters, etc., have this charisma. Among the US presidents, for example, John F. Kennedy, who became president at a young age, had such charisma. He impressed and commanded the admiration of not only his own countrymen, but also of a large number of people abroad. The allure of such people is such that the very mention of their names strikes respect for them.

  • The candidate's charisma got him more votes than the soundness of his agenda, as the voters were more charmed by his personality than impressed by his agenda.
  • President John F. Kennedy's charisma was such that his untimely death at the hands of an assassin plunged not only the US but the whole world into grief.
