The chassis of a vehicle is the strong metal framework which is supported by the wheels, and on which the engine is fixed and the body is built. The chassis, in short, holds the vehicle, and moves on wheels. Perhaps it is to the vehicle, what the skeleton is to the human body.

  • The chassis of the truck has been designed to carry loads up to twenty-five tons and is a sixteen wheeler.
  • The chassis of vehicles for military use are built extra strong, to withstand the rugged terrain on which they have to move.
