coda (noun) the separate concluding part of a piece of music or of a work of literature.

The concluding part of a piece of musical composition is its coda. The coda is usually in the form of an addition, at the end of the piece of music, and separate from the rest of the composition. A separate passage marking the end of a work of literature, for example, a novel, or a play, is also a coda. This is an addition to the rest of the book.

  • The coda has been so well composed that it wonderfully balances the main part of the piece of music. In fact, the coda has brought the composition to an impressive finish.
  • The coda, the short passage at the end of the book, forming the conclusion of the book, fuses together the different themes in the main part of the book.
