collusion (noun) a secret agreement or understanding between two or more persons to do something illegal or dishonest.
When two or more persons have an understanding or agreement to do together something illegal or dishonest, they are in collusion. Or, there is collusion between them. The police sometimes have an understanding with criminals following which they avoid taking action against the criminals. They pretend not to take notice of the criminals' deeds. This is collusion. A woman, in collusion with a man, with whom she has a relationship, may murder her husband. That is, she and the man together plan and execute the murder.
- With the judge accepting the lawyer's bribe, there followed collusion between the two, so the judge let off the criminal, the lawyer's client, with the minimum punishment.
