concede (verb) agree; admit.

When you concede a point you admit that it is true or correct. When you accept that the other person is superior to you, you concede their superiority. A player with a sporting spirit will certainly concede the superiority of the opposite player, if they admit that the opposite player performs better.

  • Having been defeated conclusively by the Columbian team, the captain of the Kansas team said that they conceded victory to a far superior team.
