concise (adj) in writing or in speech, brief and to the point.

A concise statement is one which has no more words than necessary. It is brief - expresses in as few words as possible, the ideas to be expressed. Concise instructions are those given very briefly. A concise summary contains only absolutely necessary points.

  • The interviewers were greatly pleased by Denis's concise answers and preferred him to the other candidates, who used lengthy sentences and roundabout expressions.
  • Being concise in writing or in speech is a sign of precision in thinking. If a person is clear about what they wish to say, they are concise. They avoid extra words.
