congruence (noun) harmony, correspondence, suitability, or appropriateness; (math) a perfect identity.

When there is congruence between two things, they fit well together; there is a correspondence between them. When a person's actions are in accordance with his words, there is congruence between his words and deeds. If a person says one thing and does another thing, there is no congruence between his professions and practice. When there is congruence between two triangles, they are identical in every respect.

  • His choice of pursuing the MBA program is well in congruence with his career ambition of becoming the CEO of a big corporation.
  • One of the conditions for the congruence of two triangles is the equality of the corresponding sides of the two triangles.
