conscientious (adj) very careful in doing things properly; principled.

When you take a lot of care and pains to do something correctly you are conscientious. A conscientious worker is dutiful, that is, they sincerely feel it is their duty to do anything carefully and properly. A conscientious teacher is a sincere teacher who takes their profession seriously. A conscientious student is painstakingly sincere and is deeply interested in learning.
