conscript (noun) a person forced to join armed forces.
During wartime, if necessary, young and able-bodied persons, especially men, are forced by the government to join the armed forces for the defense of the country. Such persons are conscripts. A period of compulsory military service is prescribed for all young persons of a certain age group. All such are conscripts. In Britain during the World War II, and in the US during the Vietnam War, everyone of a certain age group was a conscript.
