contempt (noun) scorn; a show of disrespect.

The total lack of respect that you have for someone is your contempt for them. When you treat someone as worthless and as deserving no respect, you have only contempt for them or you treat them with contempt. You look down upon them. When you do not show any respect for the rules or the law, you have contempt for them. When you do not care about your own safety, you have contempt for your safety.
