corollary (noun) a statement or situation that follows directly from another statement; a statement that follows from another already proved statement.

The corollary of good health is a happy life; that is, if a person has good health, it naturally follows that they will enjoy a happy life. The corollary of wealth is social status and power. That is, a person having wealth naturally has social status and power. When two persons are close friends, there is a sort of give and take between them. The give and take between them naturally follows from their friendship. So the give and take is the corollary from the friendship.

  • Certain destruction of the world is the corollary of a possible and hopefully improbable nuclear war.
  • The emission of poisonous gases from factories and automobiles leads to pollution. Horrible diseases like cancer and allergies are the corollaries.
