credulity (noun) the quality of believing too easily; the ability to believe.

A person's credulity is their tendency to believe anything readily. A person's credulity makes it easy for tricksters to deceive them. The credulous are gullible. Little children believe anything easily, so they have credulity. Some grownups too are innocent enough to believe easily, so they also have credulity. The ability or the willingness to believe a thing is also credulity. Your lack of credulity in a story is your inability to believe the story. When some sequences in a story or movie lack credulity, it is difficult to believe them.

  • Henry is often the victim of cheats and tricksters because his childish credulity makes him believe too readily whatever the others say and take people at their face.
  • The plot of the movie, with so many twists, turns, and improbabilities lacks credulity, as it is difficult to believe such things can happen in real life.
