cynical (adj) denying the sincerity of others' actions and motives.

You are cynical if you think that people do what they do for selfish reasons rather than for the good of the society. You are cynical if you deny people's sincerity in their actions. You are cynical too, if you don't care what is good for you harms others. You are cynical if you break rules to your advantage without bothering how it affects others.

  • Harry is cynical and doubts the sincerity of others' actions and motives so much that even when his friend Amy offered help, he was not sure that she was doing so out of her real desire to help him.
  • Phil is too cynical a land grabber to care if his occupations of public land deprive others of their right to it.
