A stage, especially at one end of a hall, for people to stand on, for making speeches is a dais. Chairs for speakers to sit on and a table with mikes are placed on the dais. At a prize distribution function, for example, the prize winners walk up to the dais to receive the prizes.

  • The dais erected for the party rally during the election campaign was not big enough to accommodate the chairs for all the speakers.
