An illness or too much of work debilitates a person. That is, it makes them weak. Because of it they lose their physical fitness. Walking long distances in hot sun or even moving about in hot sun can debilitate even healthy persons. That is, exposure to hot sun weakens persons. Diabetics feel debilitated if they strain themselves too much or if they are too much under stress. That is, too much of strain can make diabetics feel weak.
- The work in the office is too much of strain for old Mr. Smith. At the end of the day he feels so debilitated that he has no energy left for anything else. The doctor has advised him to give up the job.
- The attack of malaria has confined Fred to bed for a week, and though he has recovered, he still feels too debilitated to return to work immediately.
