defeatist (adj) being in a mood to accept defeat; not hoping to win.
If a person is defeatist, they expect defeat; they do not expect to win, so they do not even make an attempt to win. They are resigned to defeat. They think that even their attempts to win will be of no avail. They are pessimists and have a negative attitude.
