dehydrate (verb) remove water from; dry out.

When a person suffers from dehydration, they lose water from their body system and that can be dangerous. Exposure to sun too long can dehydrate us, that is, make us lose the water in our body. Diarrhea causes death by dehydrating, that is, by making us lose the water in our body system. Alcohol also causes loss of the water in the body, so it dehydrates us. Dehydrate food, that is, remove the water content of food, and it can be preserved.

  • Most of the ready-mix or instant foods are in fact dehydrated foodstuffs, which, with the water content in them removed, keep for quite sometime.
  • One of the methods followed to slim down a person quickly is to dehydrate them but this method has an adverse impact on the health of the person.
