Depredation implies robbing, plundering, and destruction of a place, by a group of people. In the past, the invading armies indulged in depredation of the country they attacked by plundering the country and destroying it. They carried away as much wealth as they could. Depredation of forest wealth is the mindless deforestation modern people indulge in to exploit as much forest wealth as possible. Depredation of environment is the exploitation of natural resources to the peril of our lives.

  • The depredation of the Roman Empire during the days of its decline, by the invading barbarous tribes, the Goths and the Vandals, destroyed the most advanced civilization of the times, and ruined the most prosperous empire of the times, and carried away a lot of wealth.
