devious (adj) (of a route, narration, etc.) roundabout; erratic; not straightforward; (of behavior) dishonest; deceitful.
When you take a devious route to your destination, you take a roundabout route with a number of turns. A taxi driver may take you to your hotel from the airport by a devious route just to up the meter reading and the fare. A devious person is dishonest. A devious politician is cunning. A devious merchant is a cheat.
