dexterous (adj) skillful.

When a person does something very skillfully, especially with their hands, they are dexterous. The dexterous use of a tool is a skilful use of the tool. The juggler is dexterous in his balancing act, as he throws up a number of balls into air, and does not let any of them fall out of his hands. A dexterous handling of a situation is a tactful handling of a situation avoiding embarrassment to all concerned.

  • Houdini was a magician who excelled in performing magic tricks because he was extremely dexterous with his hands and legs.
  • A successful surgeon needs flexible and dexterous hands to perform complicated surgeries, as they involve skilful use of the fingers while handling the delicate organs.
