din (noun) continuous loud noise; confused uproar.

The din of the city roads is the continuous loud noise that we hear in the roads when there is a heavy traffic. The noises of the vehicles cause the din, that is, the continuous loud noise. Children make a din when in play; they shout together and make a loud noise, sometimes difficult to bear. The uproar we hear of a disapproving and disappointed audience is a din.

  • When the teacher was out for a few minutes, there was such a din from the children that made one wonder if anything had seriously gone wrong.
  • The din of the factory could be heard over a large area around. The smoke caused atmospheric pollution while the din caused noise pollution.
