discerning (adj) having good judgment and quick understanding.

A discerning person shows good judgment and can form quickly a correct opinion of what is right or what is wrong; can distinguish between what is of quality and what lacks quality. A person who is discerning can easily understand the difference between the good and the not so good about art, music, etc..

  • Judith is very discerning about whom she should move with and whom to avoid. She is clever at her judgment of who desirable company is, and who is not.
