When you disclaim responsibility for any happening, you disown responsibility for it. You make it clear that you are in no way responsible for it. 'The doctor disclaims any responsibility for the patient's death on surgery, as he had the patient's next of kin sign a statement that the doctor shall not be held responsible for the patient's death.' This means that the doctor has stated that he is not responsible for the patient's death. No parent can disclaim his obligation for the payment of his children's school fee and their welfare. That is, a parent is responsible for matters concerning their children. A wife saying that she does not know anything about the source of her husband's income is her disclaiming any knowledge of her husband's source of income.
